With all consideration, Pink Floyd’s The Wall, has been received as a timeless concept album for decades. Its legend has lived, free from wither, since the album’s release in 1980. The Wall has served as a platform for many interpretations, the most apparent being the psychoanalysis of Mr. Pink’s (The main character in the album) approach to the kind of torment he had been subject to all his life. The album reflects themes of war, sexual frustration and childhood memory. Shortly after the audio-release Roger Waters created the cult classic movie “Pink Floyd’s The Wall,” with director Alan Parker (Maslin), which accompanied the album in its musical theme. Today, Waters tours “The Wall” with an extraordinary amount of visual company (“a touring crew of 66 people shuttled by six tour buses (Danton)) funded by a wealth of ever-present Pink Floyd fans.

“Pink Floyd’s The Wall,” has been viewed as a “powerful” and “grandiose” (Maslin) film that centers on the depressed and distraught character Pink, who is sitting in a trashed apartment for the duration of the story. The movie constructs a wall, most commonly interpreted as a feeling from the pressures of alienation, and then optimistically destroys that wall at the end of the concert.

The success of the media fronts on which “The Wall” is displayed shared success that consequently echoed the globe with three singles holding a number one chart position, and three others with notable fame. CNBC recently ranked “The Wall” third in “The Best Selling Albums of All-Time” with a 23 time platinum status by the way of over 11 million albums sold (cnbc.com).

” What it comes down to for me is this: Will the technologies of communication in our culture, serve to enlighten us and help us to understand one another better, or will they deceive us and keep us apart?”
